Since 1969, Learning Foundations has helped thousands of students in San Antonio overcome their learning challenges to become confident and successful learners. Our message has always been that anyone with learning and attention challenges, including dyslexia, can learn to become successful.

Through pre and post-testing data for all our students, we have shown significant increases in their cognitive learning skills. But our statistics are really just that. Statistics. What we care about, what makes us come to work every day with a smile, is knowing we are making a difference in children’s lives every day.

We also want to share some of our success stories and parental reviews with you.

We are very proud of all of our students. We are proud to see the accomplishments they make as they move successfully through their lives.

Below are just a few of the many success stories we have collected through the years.

Gabriella
"As a parent and Homeschool teacher, it can be frustrating to know how to best help your child who has a learning difference. Learning Foundations has helped greatly with that challenge. Starting with the initial testing (Kudos Mrs. Leslie!) and the development of a tailored program, Learning Foundations matched her with a great teacher for her personality. Most of all, everyone has been patient, encouraging and at the same time challenged her to achieve more than she thought she could." - Kylie B.

Cognitive Skills Program

"The cognitive program has truly helped my child in many areas. He has learned how to focus and concentrate better. We have seen improvements in his spelling as well as in the area of sports. Reading was not a concern for him when we began the program, but now he is even more fluent and thee cognitive at which he reads has improved. I have recommended this program to several parents."

It is also apparent that everyone who works there genuinely cares about the students." - Michele S.

It would take her 45 minutes sometimes before she would even attempt to write something down on paper. She would blow her nose 10 times or sharpen her pencil for 5 minutes, etc. Since she has started and completed the cognitive program, we have seen a complete turn around in her attitude, motivation, and self-esteem. She is getting her work done both at school and home. She still requires some assistance at times, however overall, she has become more independent and will try to do what she can on her own! To see Courtney doing this is a blessing and I would and have recommended this program to others."

Cognitive Skills Program

Vanessa
"Cognitive program had allowed our Vanessa to gain confidence in school with a sharp reduction in spelling mistakes, her first consecutive “A” grades on math exams and an improved ability to express herself in essays. Fortunately, the director warned us that we had to be dedicated by completing our home assignments and not missing appointments. This was somewhat grueling at times and that metronome still occasionally adds reverb in my sleep (set at 120). The trainer was very dedicated and accommodated us even on weekends. We have already sparked interest in the cognitive program program around the teachers lounge at Hobby Middle School through our contact with the teachers and counselors. Any child can benefit from this program, but the ultimate benefactor is one who, for one reason or another, has trouble processing information."

He was at Learning Foundations receiving some tutoring in math and science, when I mentioned to the director some greater problems he’s had since elementary school. She knew exactly what I was talking about. He was evaluated with an auditory processing difficulty. This was wonderful news, because we knew that he was an intelligent child and working as hard as he could but was feeling like he was running in place. Finally, we identified the problem and could correct it. He had an excellent trainer who worked closely with him encouraging him all the way."

Cameron seems to find it easier to pick up a book and read. So far this year he has been finishing his work in class. Last year he was bringing home lots of work. He seems to work faster. He sees things in terms of what he can do and how much he can accomplish instead of saying, “I can’t do that” or “That’s going to take too long”. He’ll say, “Mom, I’m going to finish 3 chapters tonight” and he says it with enthusiasm, then he usually accomplishes it. He had a great time coming to Learning Foundations even though it cut into his summer vacation, he thought it was fun. Learning has never been fun for Cameron. I think he will have a great year and great life. Thank you.

I wanted to share Joshua’s results from STAAR this year. Thank you for always continuing to push and have patience with him! You and Learning Foundations has been instrumental... PACE

Joey Paula
The cognitive skills program at Learning Foundations has made it possible for our son to become an achiever. The problems Joey was having did not just involve his learning skills, but his self-esteem as well. Through the processing skills program and his instructor, Joey was able to overcome or meet the goals that were presented to him. He no longer sees education as being frustrating and overwhelming, nor is Joey the shy boy who would walk with his head down. We were surprised to see such a dramatic change in such a short period of time. Joey is now an outgoing and enthusiastic child. We feel that the results were so quick due to the personalization that the program offered. It emphasized on the specific problems and did not waste time on areas Joey did not need. My husband and I are so grateful that the processing skills program led Joey to achieve his potential. Joey was recently passed to the second grade. We thank God. We feel that it is due to Joey's new method of learning. Within a short period of time I feel he convinced the school that he was able to conquer the first and second grade and any other obstacle put in front of him. We could not be prouder. Joey is now on the right track to success. Thank you.

Dyslexia Program and Sensory Integration

Before coming in to Learning Foundations we had concerns on his attention and focus among other things. We've seen changess on his confidence, academics and on his emotional state. : He is more ready to say "i will try" than "I can't," which is amazing. He is doing so much better on the academics. This week we memorized a bible verse. He was given instructions in speech with multiple directions and was able to successfully complete the task! Learning Foundations has been so understanding, so kind, so helpful, and that is EVERYTHING. We talk about Learning Foundations to anyone who will listen. Not only do you make the children feel loved but you bring back a confidence to parents that was beat up, at least me, you did. -Emily Rose

Cognitive Skills Program

Ryan
Overall Learning Foundations exceeded our expectations for our son Ryan. The individualized assessment kept him on track with what he needed to improve and did not waste time with what he did not. Conferences with the director and trainer made it so communication on Ryan’s progress was open. The skill activities were at the level Ryan needed them to be at. I would recommend Learning Foundations to a friend, relative, or neighbor. - Ryan's mom

Cognitive Skills Program

Seth
"Seth’s greatest improvement since starting the cognitive program has been in math and the increase in speed has helped him a lot in completing homework in a timely manner. However, his spelling is still very poor, and his reading and comprehension still needs improvement. So now I need information on how often to review the cognitive program with him at home to keep it fresh for him."

Dyslexia Program

Logan

Logan started in Learning Foundations to help him learn to read, increase his confidence, and to gain more understanding about how to help him with dyslexia and related struggles. After attending his program, Logan's confidence increased, he likes to read on his own, sometimes, which is better than it was previously, where he never wanted to try to read. He also seems to be picking up reading and the information he is learning is finally sticking. His trainer went above and beyond to answer any questions we had and Logan loved coming to his sessions. She also made learning fun for him and he enjoyed every sessio.

Dyslexia and ADHD Program

Hannah

Hannah came to Learning Foundations to help her imporve her reading skills as well as help her cope with her dyslexia and ADHD. Since being at Learning Foundations she's reading more - something she never did. She has more confidence and ejoys going to school now. Her trainer did amazing work with her and Hannah has progresed so much in the time she spent here. I highly recommend it!

Cognitive Skills Porgram

Daylan

The program has truly been a blessing for Daylan. He can focus more, his reading skills are much better, and he understands what he has to read. The phonics has helped in pronouncing words without any problems. His trainer helped build his self-esteem and motivated Daylan. She always had the time to stop and talk to me and helped me forget the bad thoughts and focus on the good thoughts. I highly recommend the processing skills program to any child not succeeding as my son wasn't. Now I sleep better, I'm happy and so is Daylan.

Core Learning Skills and Dyslexia Program

Michael

"Michael is no longer depressed and no longer seems to feel hopeless. He is able to stand in front of the class and read as he could never do before. He is full of confidence and is a happier child. The neighbors have commented in Michael’s growth. It has also helped the family unit by eliminating some of the chaos. Michael now sees upcoming projects and deadlines as challenges and is no longer fully of nerves and fear. "

Cognitive Skills Program

Jeremy Jefaro

"I will and have recommended the processing skills program to friends at work. Jeremy has a new attitude about responsibility and his grades. He has more confidence when he’s in class. So much in fact he feels he no longer needs CME. His grades have improved. He had A’s and B’s with one 56 (test score) in History. Even with that he was so proud of himself and disappointed when he got the 56. He cared. He’s trying. He doesn’t spell very well but I’m confident it’ll come. His behavior has gotten better now it’s just too much joking but I take that any day over bad behavior. His teachers are writing and saying he’s a great student. His behavior in school has also gotten significantly better. "

PACE

Andrew

I would recommend the processing skills program. I have seen a great improvement in my child self-image. He is more enthusiastic about reading and doing papers for school. His concentration on his school work and homework has improved. He is also more sure of himself in answering questions at school.

Core Learning Skills and Cognitive Skills Programs

Brianna Hauschildt

"Brianna has developed a strong willingness to learn and succeed in everything she does. School has always been a struggle for her, but she continues to work through her disabilities. Brianna has enough confidence in herself to realize she can accomplish what other children do; it takes her longer to get there. She takes the initiative to do what is required of her without being reminded. Learning Foundations has helped her improve dramatically by attending their programs. I give a big thank you to all the wonderful staff for helping Brianna to aquire the skills she needs to succeed."

Processing Skills Screening

Haleigh Riceburg

When Haleigh started the processing skills program she was failing 1st grade. Her reading level was somewhere around the kindergarten level. She was discouraged and this was having an effect on the rest of her schoolwork and her attitude toward learning. When we started the program things began to change. Haleigh’s whole attitude improved. She really enjoyed coming to Learning Foundations and having fun doing the work because it was different and made her think in different ways. The biggest change was in her grades. She went from nearly failing 1st grade to making As and Bs on her first progress report from 2nd grade! The processing skills program is exactly what it claims to be and I would certainly recommend it to others!

Cognitive Skills Program

Sharde

"This was the best choice I have ever made for Sharde. I see my child’s confidence level in reading just sky rocket. She enjoyed the excercises, she enjoyed the homework assignment given to her and looked forward to going 4 times a week during the summer months."

Core Learning Skills and Dyslexia Program

Paul

"The biggest reason we chose to send Paul here was the knowledge the staff has. The knowledge of test that were offered. And the communication with the trainers and myself. I love the patience they have with Paul. I’ve noticed a big change in his coordination and his speech has improved. And the biggest difference is being able to read!!! I am so happy he wants to read on his own! I am completely satisfied. All the trainers have gone above and beyond helping Paul. I have recommended Learning Foundations in the past. When I do I always inform the parent about the importance of testing their child’s needs. I love Learning Foundations’ flexibility. The prices are reasonable and the programs offered are not singled out for children with disabilities. They offer programs and tutoring for children and teens for SAT testing or just tutoring with any classes the child needs help with. Learning Foundations is always trying to keep up to date with any new technology."

Sasha

"Sasha came to Learning Foundations, because we felt that she needed help in her reading, writing, and remembering words. We have noticed that her reading, writing, and remembering has improved for the better. She likes to read a lot more and has requested to go to the library more. I would tell other parents that your program is and was well worth it. We have seen a great improvement in our daughter. We would recommend the Learning Foundations to any parent that feels that their child is in need of help in reading and writing. We are truly pleased with our daughter’s improvement."

PACE

Crystal

Every time Crystal came out of her sessions with her tutor, she seemed to be oozing with confidence. Kinda like, “I’m smart and I know I’m smart.” That is something we’re not used to seeing from Crystal. We do like that improvement. She also does an awful lot of reading on her own now. Hopefully she’ll be ready for the upcoming school year with a few new learning skills she picked up over the summer. This program has given my child more confidence in her reading and comprehension skills. We have seen a great improvement in her school work.

PACE

Justeine

Justeine’s reading skills have definitely improved. I think that the biggest improvement has been in her self-image. She is volunteering for school activities (such as a recent class play) whereas before she was not as prone to participate. The grades at school are slowly creeping up. Overall I have been impressed with her growing knowledge that she can read and participate. I am hopeful that this trend will continue. Justeine's trainer has been wonderful! She makes the sessions not only fun but is great in keeping the sessions going in a very professional way.

PACE

Alexa

As a result of the processing skills program in Alexa’s life, her understanding and comprehension in Language Arts and overall reading skills have gone through the roof. She will now pick up a book on her own just for the pure enjoyment of reading. Her ability to concentrate in school has greatly improved as well as her self-esteem. Homework tasks that were very difficult in the past are now completed in one sitting. She is better able to give each task the attention it needs, as well as the desire to complete it correctly. We feel that 90% of the homework and school learning process is the confidence to know that it can be done, and done correctly.

PACE

Holly

I would highly recommend the processing skills program. Holly loved the challenge and the success she saw in her abilities. Holly’s self-confidence about her school work improved tremendously. She now sees that learning can be fun and actually enjoys her school/homework.

PACE

Trey

The processing skills program was very challenging yet fun. Trey was mentally tired after each class but ready to work at home on his assignments. His trainer was the best! She truly cares about the kids. Her love for children was easy to see. She made each class fun and even though some classes were extremely hard for Trey. Trey said on the last day that he was happy to graduate but sad to leave his trainer. What an endorsement from an eleven-year-old! We look forward to seeing the changes in Trey’s attitude toward school. His attitude has already improved more than we expected!

PACE

Lauryn

Lauryn has made some major breakthroughs. The processing skills program has really worked in areas where we as parents were really concerned. Lauryn is able to work more independently now and she’s much more confident. We have also noticed that Lauryn applies herself more at school and home. The program has been a blessing to Lauryn and her education. Our family has learned to be more patient and sensitive to certain needs because of what we have also learned during training. A couple of days ago I picked Lauryn up from school and I noticed she was in very good spirits. She couldn’t wait to get in the car, and when she did, she said “Guess what Mom? I made a 92 on my English test and a 100 on my History test!” I was so happy for her. It was a heartwarming feeling to see her that excited about school and her grades.

PACE

Nicholas

Nicholas now has the confidence to take on anything he’s faced with at school. He now strives to make good grades and he is actually choosing reading material and reading in the car. This was a tough program, but he enjoyed it and never complained. Everyone has noticed a change. His grades are good but even more importantly Nicholas feels good about himself. His trainer is wonderful, Nicholas loves her-our whole family does! Thank you for all the strides Nicholas has made. We all feel he can face anything now!

PACE

Kevin

The biggest improvement I saw was in spelling. Before the processing skills program, Kevin had to attempt to spell everything by writing it down first. Now he is able to visualize the words in his head and spell them out verbally. Also, when he does write a word wrong, he is usually able to tell it is wrong after writing it and can correct it.

PACE

Chris

Chris has his sense of humor back. He doesn’t seem to stress out when assignments appear difficult. He is anxious to do schoolwork and is getting up in the morning on his own. Last year he would avoid doing schoolwork all together if it appeared to be difficult. We would argue often about grades. I would have to drag him out of bed every morning to catch the bus.

PACE

Paige

In April of last school year, times were pretty tough. Paige was having a terrible time in school. Her grades were barely passing and her self-esteem had hit an all-time low. We knew she was doing the best she could do but it wasn’t enough to make it in school in the long run. When we found the Learning Foundations Center, they offered us hope and a different way of learning. In a matter of days, not weeks, we noticed changes in Paige. In a few short weeks her confidence level was very high and the word “can’t” left her vocabulary. Since finishing the program, she seems to have developed a “can do” attitude about everything. I believe her experience here has changed her life. I recommend this program to everyone because it works!

PACE

Andy

The processing skills program has helped Andy with goal setting and realizing his goal. Learning Foundations has also helped with his reading skills and most of all his self-confidence.

PACE

Sophia

Sophia feels her greatest improvement has been in memory and recalling information faster. She also feels she is able to focus better in class and her attention in the classroom is better. In addition, she has learned to filter outside noise most of the time. This was something she had a hard time doing before the program.

Jennifer

I have seen a wonderful improvement in Jennifer’s ability to focus. She comes home from school and starts her work and stays focused until she is done. I have noticed her math scores improve a great deal. I believe because she had a wonderful trainer who Jennifer really connected with, and she was able to benefit from the program the most. Both my husband and I are very pleased with the processing skills program and will consider the program with our youngest daughter if needed. The directors of Learning Foundations are wonderful people, even though the program requires three days of coming into the office, they made my stay the most comfortable with their caring ways.

At this time it is too early in the school year to tell how effective and successful this program has been for my child. One thing I can surely say is that the program is worth the try for any child who is struggling in school. Some of the successes I’ve seen from my daughter are improving her memory skills and motivation toward her school work.

Andrew

Today a learning specialist report, my student Andrew took a test for the SA Fire Department and passed the paper/pencil test on the first try with a 74! It was a timed, multiple-choice test and he needed a 70 to pass. He took it with no accommodations and did the reading all himself. But it wasn’t always that way. At 14 Andrew was identified with severe dyslexia by the school counselor. He was placed in Special Education for life skills…they had no program for him. He graduated high school reading at the 3rd-grade level. Andrew came to us without a job, no driver’s license, and little hope. After months with a Learning Foundation specialist working diligently in our reading and spelling program, he is taking college-level developmental courses, and he has a driver’s license. Most importantly, he has a future on the path to being productive and happy.

Abdullah & Fatima

Thank you so very much for the effort you have invested in my children, Abdullah and Fatima, during this past school year. My wife and I have been very impressed with the children’s progress in all their subjects. Their scholastic progress this year is largely the results of your efforts on their behalf.

PACE

Even though it is too early in the process to determine how much she had improved in her memory, concentration, etc. One thing I have noticed is that her self-esteem and self-confidence had improved dramatically. She now believes that she has the tools to do great at school. Her last lesson was taken five days ago and three days ago I had a parent-teacher conference. The teacher told me that she has seen how hard our daughter has been working lately to improve her grades.

Andrew

Andrew has an amazing recall. He finished a Harry Potter book and had to write a summary- the summary concept was hard for him to understand as he remembered so many details of the story it was hard for him to kind of pull it all together. As I helped him, I was amazed at all the detail of the story he recalled including how to spell strange names. He does struggle with inference…we are working on that…but I think that is typical 5th grade. He met with middle school counselors and came home with a “pretend” schedule and was able to recount the conversation and why he made the choices he made. He is doing really well at home too. He more consistently finishes his chores, does them without prompting, able to complete his homework with minimal help. This week he had most of his reading packet done Monday before he got home from school. Last week he wanted to put off completing his reading packet for a day (he gets it Monday and it is due Thursday) because he wanted to go play and I told him fine, but he had to know that he had to do it the next evening…he decided to just go ahead and do it then (took minutes) and then go play…big step for him who always wants to put things off for later.

Jordan

I am pleased and excited that Jordan passed the TAKS Math Test in June. We are grateful for Learning Foundations' help and support, the staff was great!

Katie

Thank you for giving Katie her self-esteem and confidence back. She is looking forward to attending SAC in the Fall. Thanks for all your loving care because Katie is a more positive and confident student due to your help. Job well done!

PACE

Lauryn

Thanks for your tutoring services. Lauryn has really accomplished climbing some major mountains. With our support, and your help we have taught her to say “Move Mountain” and encouraged her to press towards her goals.

PACE

Mson made exciting progress in the fourth week of the processing skills program. This week he completed a math timed test BEFORE the time was up!! This may not seem like a big deal so let me explain. Every week for the last five years of school my son has had different math timed tests (addition, subtraction and multiplication) which he would have to complete in five minutes or less. He used to get C’s and D’s and an occasional B. Not because he didn’t know math (his favorite subject is math) but because he could not get done fast enough. Well this week he told me, with tears in his eyes, how happy he was to be able to raise his hand to announce to the world that he got done before the time was up. Plus, he only got four wrong giving him an A!! I am just so happy for him.

PACE

Zachary

Zachary is reading independently at a beginning second grade level. With help, he can read more challenging stories. However, I find that he loses meaning with more difficult passages. I will test him again tomorrow and give you more information.

PACE

Vanessa

The processing skills program has allowed our Vanessa to gain confidence in school with sharp reduction in spelling mistakes, her first consecutive “A” grades on math exams and on improved ability to express herself in essays. Her trainer was very dedicated and accommodated us even on weekends. We have already sparked interest in the processing skills program around the teacher’s lounge at Vanessa's middle school through our contact with the teachers and counselors. Any child can benefit from this program but the ultimate benefactor is one who for one reason or another has trouble processing information.

PACE

Stephen

Stephen had a very positive and successful experience with the processing skills program. He was at Learning Foundations receiving some tutoring in math and science when I mentioned to the director some greater problems he’s had since elementary school, she knew exactly what I was talking about. He was evaluated with an auditory processing difficulty. This was wonderful news because we identified the problem and could correct it. He had an excellent trainer who worked closely with him, encouraging him all the way.

PACE

Tara

Tara’s problems in school have improved somewhat. The biggest change I have noticed to date is the lack of failing papers I had to sign. She still has some papers turned in where she either didn’t get it or didn’t read the directions carefully. Tara’s teacher has stated that she has noticed some change in her. Tara now goes to CMC for some things. We are anxiously waiting to see how much improvement she will now have since completing the processing skills program.

PACE

Garrett

Garrett came to Learning Foundations for help with his development (he acted younger than his age), help with his focus, concentration and his ability to pay attention. Since starting at Learning Foundations, his grades have been high all year, his ability to concentrate and focus have increased, as well as his logic and reasoning. Garret has loved the program with his trainer and was excited to go to his lesson each week. I have seen his reading improve and word concepts improve over the school year. I am so glad I had found a place to help my son grow and learn. Garrett has mastered the TAKS test the first time. His teacher feels he is ready to go onto 4th grade next year. But will need to continue getting help and modifications for his Dyslexia.

Esteban

I am so happy that Esteban made such an improvement in such little time! He started school last Monday, he was very nervous in the morning, but in the afternoon he was VERY happy!!! Esteban likes the change very much, he even said that everything is easier and that he understands much better after being in San Antonio with Stephany, Kathie, and Aime. He had his first homework today on Math, he did it all by himself and in less than 20 minutes he was finished!! I had NEVER seen that!! My husband and I are very happy and have all our faith in this big change.

PACE

We want to thank Learning Foundations for helping us reach the person inside of our youngest son. We always knew that he had more to give. We were ecstatic at the improvement we have seen in our son using the sound therapy you recommended. Of course, we were skeptical and did not think that we would notice any changes but you asked us to trust and have faith. Gone are the days of having to struggle with him to get homework, household chores, or other tasks completed. It is not 100% perfect but it is a 200% improvement! In this 20 week process, we noticed that our son was happier, more focused, and willing to do his homework. His teachers also shared with us that they noticed these positive changes in his attitude at school. The other changes we noticed was our son started completing tasks with little to no reminders and there were less arguments between him and his brother. Lastly, we were quite pleased to learn that he had a 10% improvement in his hearing loss. Because of this, he only wears his hearing aid on days where he is congested. Now that the initial 20-week program is over, our son still turns to his sound therapy while he’s doing homework, to give himself a confidence boost on his test days, or just wants to relax. It is a pleasure to watch him grow into this wonderful, happy, confident person we always knew existed inside him. Overall, this program has helped the whole family as we all participated during the initial period. His brother even asked for a special program himself. Again, thank you for recommending this program

CLS

Ashlyn

I want to start off by saying how wonderful your programs are. I have seen a huge change in Ashlyn this past year. Her confidence and ability have gone up dramatically. The core learning skills program has enhanced Ashlyn’s ability to self-regulate and from that, her performance at school has been much better this year at a school with very high academic demands. I really do appreciate everything the staff there has done for Ashlyn and our family. I have already recommended Learning Foundations to several friends and parents of some of my students who have inquired about “help” for their children. It’s well worth it.

John

John came to Learning Foundations to improve his reading, mental flexibility, and confidence in his learning ability. John is now able to be a more independent learner, try new approaches, and seek information to help himself whereas he previously was easily frustrated and it stopped his learning. John is able to read faster, but more importantly, is more comfortable with complex stories. He is now better able to focus and work through his learning.

Dusty

When Dusty started at Learning Foundations, he was failing all his courses except his electives at school. He couldn’t stay on task…he would only write his name on the top of his English paper. He always said that he didn’t have any homework and never brought work home. He was a very restless sleeper, would never sleep through the night, and would complain of tiredness and all kinds of “aches and pains”. Currently, Dusty passed 7th grade – his last 9 weeks grades being A’s and B’s. He even received an award for being the “most improved student”! After being in Learning Foundations, he started bringing homework home, sleeping through the night and the headaches are now few and far between. He started caring about himself, taking a more “leadership” role at Scouts, practicing his music (violin), reading more, and taking care of his body. Although we did start him back on ADD medication (a different kind than before), I believe that the programs at Learning Foundations helped him tremendously by giving him confidence in his abilities. The staff is caring and supportive and I would recommend the program to anyone who needs an alternative learning experience. In a nutshell-my son came back to me.

Gunnar

Gunnar did not want to complete any school work during the day. He would just sit. He NEVER wanted to try anything new, for fear of failing. Since being at Learning Foundations Gunnar is more willing to try new things where before he would avoid new them. He is more social in school, he seems happier. He is completing his work. Homework is not a big deal anymore. since his confidence has improved, his reading has improved, as well as his handwriting.

Gregory

Gregory told me a couple of weeks ago that he felt more confident and he thought it was from Learning Foundations and martial arts. It seems like he is still working hard on homework and schoolwork, but he received an 86 on his math test and a 96 on his science test! His trainer has been great with him and all the staff is wonderful!

Gabby

Gabby came to Learning Foundations for help with her cognitive processing issues. We saw a boost of confidence, and Gabby was much quicker at recognizing and correcting her mistakes. She has much-improved reading speed, accuracy, and comprehension. Going from level 3 readers to regular chapter books. LF, as we call it, has a great open-door policy. Always ready to answer questions. I appreciate them letting the parents sit in on the classes. Gabby will miss her trainer and all the others who would sub at times! Great attitude and knew she loved the children! As a parent and Homeschool teacher, it can be frustrating to know how to best help your child who has a learning difference. Learning Foundations has helped greatly with that challenge. Starting with the initial testing and the development of a tailored program, LF matched her with a great trainer(s) for her personality! Most of all, everyone has been patient, encouraging, and at the same time challenged her to achieve more than she thought she could.

Genoveva

Genoveva had low grades and lacked comprehension and attention on school work. We saw increases in her self-esteem and confidence and she also seems to have a little more maturity. Her math has also improved greatly and she's doing well in her extracurriculars. We are very pleased with the staff! Genoveva absolutely loves coming here.

Mary

Mary struggled with math, reading, and comprehension. We have seen an increase in her self-esteem and confidence and she also joined the Newspaper Club and Choir at school! She reads out oud very well and her handwriting has greatly improved! Mary absolutely loves coming here. The staff is so supportive and has really helped boost my children's confidence in them.

PACE

James

The processing skills program has given James the confidence and knowledge to begin reading short chapter books with ease. He no longer is afraid of books without pictures. He enjoys reading and is becoming a stronger reader with all the practice on his own. This dramatic change has helped in all subjects at school. With his frustration level reduced behavior at home has changed, he is like a new child- HAPPY, focused and enjoyable to be with.

PACE

Gregory

Before finding out about the processing skills program I had a terrible time getting Greg to sit down and complete homework. He seemed to always find reasons to prolong the work; 30 minutes of work would turn into two hours. Since attending Learning Foundations, Greg doesn’t rely on my help as much in completing his work, he is actually picking things up saying “Hey mom, listen to this…or “did you know that…” The best thing is that Greg sees himself as a real-life success! The trainer that was matched up to Greg was perfect and very motivating. He loved coming and didn’t seem to mind the extra work along with his regular school work. As an educator, this is one of the best programs I have ever experienced!

PACE

Dorey

I have been very pleased with the processing skills program! Dorey has struggled all through her school years. With this program she learned information and stuff that the school never taught her. She struggled in 9th grade and 1st semester of 10th grade then we began the at Learning Foundations. She made straight As for the last three semesters. She has more confidence and knows she can learn. Her instructor was excellent! We only have good feelings for the program. It gave our daughter something that will benefit her the rest of her life!

My child has stopped saying "I'm nervous," she fidgets less in her sleep, and finishes her homework packets on her own. She still struggles in school, but her last report card showed some improvement.

Kevin

Kevin came to Learning Foundations because of his frustration with his school and lack of progress. Since starting at Learning Foundations we have seen a big boost in self-confidence, he will actually pick up a book and read it, and he can spell! He has a fabulous trainer who always takes the time to answer all my questions and tell me how he's doing. Every trainer working there is the friendliest, always ready to listen, answer questions, patient people I've ever met. Learning Foundations has taught my son how to spell, read, and write! When we come here, Kevin gets so excited to learn. That is amazing!

Mathew

Mathew struggled with his reading. He failed his 6th grade TAKS reading test, 7th and 8th grade STAAR Reading (though he missed the 8th grade by one question…) After a little extra help, he passed the second time! After a little help, he passed the second time! Thank you all so much for everything that you did for Mathew for the last two years! He showed so much improvement, and even gained confidence in his reading. You all were so positive and encouraging to Mathew, and definitely have him on track! You found all kinds of different ways to motivate him and keep him focused.

PACE

Shawn

The processing skills program has given me a new son. It is amazing how this program has helped. Shawn would always fight with me at homework times, find excuses to get up and take hours completing assignments. To this date, he gets his work completed without me having to ask. At the beginning of this school you (he is in 2nd grade) Shawn’s teacher discussed dyslexic tendencies she observed in Shawn’s reading. He is now reading on his grade level and more than doubled his fluency rate. He is mastering all his assessments with 90% or higher. This program has also helped boost Shawn’s self confidence. He approaches his teachers and school officials now with little apprehension. During Kinder and 1st grade he bad behavior problems and the teachers used behavior/work contracts. For the 1st time he got all E’s on his report card for citizenship and work habits. He no longer has modified or shortened assignments.

PACE

Matthew

The processing skills program takes a lot of commitment on the part of the parent, student, trainer, and director. If the commitment is there it’s a program worth investing on. I have seen a confidence in Mathew that wasn’t there before we started the program. There’s things in the processing skills program that he has learned to do to help in his reading and reading comprehension which I was concerned about before we started. Right now, I think it’s a little too early to tell on the other areas. I hope to see some more improvements in the next few months as the school year progresses. Overall, the problems we have seen before starting the program have been happening less.

PACE

We had run out of options as far as medications for our daughter’s ADHD. The processing skills program was great because it was a non-medication alternative that produced significant improvement in our daughter’s math work at school, precisely the area she was having the most problems in. The program produced great results when nothing else was working!

PACE

The processing skills program was a wonderful program for our daughter. She was extremely challenged with her reading, spelling, and comprehension. So much that she was struggling and her grades fell as her class progressed. She was reading and understanding 2nd-grade work but was in 3rd grade. This program gave her the tools to catch up with her class and graduate 3rd grade with an A-B Honor Roll also the highest improvement award in her class. Most private schools do not supply the tools and Learning Foundations was and perfect fit no matter what school system you come from.

PACE

The change from last school year to this school year is remarkable. August has more self-esteem with an attitude and willingness to try whatever is asked of him. He has gained the ability to concentrate for longer periods of time. He had an assessment test at the beginning of 2nd grade and the teacher remarked that she had never seen a child of 7 be able to sit for over an hour testing. In kindergarten and first grade he was so frustrated with not being able to keep up with the other kids in the school work that he continuously acted out and got bad conduct marks. This year he has perfect conduct because he enjoys school and can do the work. I would recommend this program to any parent that has a child where the normal channels aren’t working.

PACE

We were incredibly pleased with the program. We believe this program has helped our son experience success, succeed in school and above all gain confidence. Our child’s instructor was understanding and very patient. Our only regret is that we didn’t find out about the processing skills program sooner. We would recommend this program to any parent with a child who struggles with schoolwork on a daily basis.

PACE

Victoria

Before Learning Foundations, Victoria struggled in every area of reading comprehension and self-esteem. Within our first month of training, we as a family noticed a drastic difference for the better in her self-esteem. The first activity was remembering the presidents who started it all. Victoria immediately thought she was the smartest kid in the class. Honestly so did my husband and myself. Victoria, like all aspects of her life, had to work really hard at every drill. There were some times that I thought perhaps she would never overcome the task but with her trainer, she always conquered the drills. With each passing level, she began to pass them more and more quickly. She was mastering them with ease. We are so very excited to see just how all her hard work will pay off. We will continue on mastering the code until it is complete. We feel she can only benefit from completing the entire program no matter the time it will take.

PACE

Cassandra

Cassandra has shown improvement in many areas since beginning the processing skills program. While the source of this improvement is confounded by her starting at a new school around the same time, the tutoring sessions have dearly benefited her. Principal, among the deserved benefits, is an increased sense of self-confidence and academic capability, which allows Cassandra to exercise the potential that was there all along. Also, seeing steady improvement on a variety of tasks has helped encourage a belief that effort pays off. The program work has helped encourage a sense of responsibility and routine and has helped Cassandra become accustomed to the idea of applying herself for reasons beyond getting good grades. Looking back, we would definitely enroll Cassandra in the processing skills program again!

PACE

Blair

Before the processing skills program, Blair was not completing her classwork on a consistent basis. She had trouble reading at her age/grade level. She has improved dramatically since starting the program. Whereas she was completing one of three of one of four assignments, she finished out the school year completing ALL of her daily work with only a few exceptions. Her inability to read jeopardized her advance to first grade. She is now reading at a first-grade level. As a bonus, her behavior/conduct in school improved and she was able to "stay on the green" almost every day. Blair has made a lot of progress! The processing skills program made a positive impact; it worked for Blair.

PACE

Yajaira

My daughter Yajaira started having math problems when she started the third grade. Things worsened when I transferred her from private school to a public school. Self-esteem was low and her grades were at their worse. At first I found it not to be working, but suddenly Yajaira’s reading and comprehension was the first improvement. It was so good she missed only 3 questions on her TAKS test. Later on, grades started to go up as well as her self confidence. I recommend the program. The results are wonderful! It is the best investment with good results.

PACE

Zachary

Before placing my son Zachary in the processing skills program, he had high frustration levels about completing assignments. At times, he also had trouble just getting started on the more complex assignments. After completing the program, he now zooms through easier assignments and is able to work through the more difficult ones at a more moderate pace. In addition, he is more apt to work through frustrations as opposed to before the program. Before the program, his behavior marks in school were labeled “needs improvement” and “unsatisfactory”; afterward, they were labeled “satisfactory”. Lastly, he has tremendously improved on completing and turning in all assignments which have resulted in all subjects being reported as either an “A” or “B” grade on his last report card. I believe the processing skills program will continue to have a positive impact on Zachary on his lifelong journey.

Jasmine

Jasmine’s self-confidence and self-esteem have greatly inspired. She takes the initiative to read things out loud before she would shy away from this. When Jasmine comes to a word she does not know, she will sound it out; before she would just sit there silently. I have not heard the words “I can’t do that” or “I’m dumb” or “I can’t read”. These three phrases have not been uttered during this program. This alone means so much. This program has built up a confidence in her that she feels and believes she “CAN” accomplish the unknown-before if it was something new or unfamiliar, she would stay away from it. I have seen all around changes in her attitude toward herself, her abilities to try something new, her self-confidence and self-esteem, not only in reading –but all subjects and even outside of school. Thanks for bringing out and giving back my daughter’s ability to keep trying and reaching for the stars. She believes in herself and that means the world to me.

Reading and spelling are the two areas where major improvements were made. They were two of my major concerns towards his ability in doing better in school. His grades are another result of his program. The program was helpful and I am very satisfied to the point I recommend it to anyone.

PACE

Gabriel

My son Gabriel has shown improvement in reading, spelling, and writing. I believe it is all due to the processing skills program. Gabriel now likes to bring home library books to read, not just to look at the pictures. Gabriel’s comprehension has improved also. I would recommend this program to any parent who has a child struggling with his/her reading. My husband and I cant wait to see the full effect and results of this program continue to show on our son’s progress, in the next six to twelve months to come.

Patrick

Patrick always struggled with his reading. I had tried various reading programs every summer since he was 5. This program has instilled confidence in him. He makes a stronger effort in sounding out words. His comprehension has improved tremendously. Patrick now has the tools/skills to continue to improve in his reading. The program/staff are very friendly and it helped with Patrick’s success. My goal was for Patrick age 8, to pass his TAKS test. He did very well with TAKS and is excited to be going to fourth grade. I would recommend the program to other parents.

Mary

Over the last nine months, our daughter Mary has changed dramatically in several ways. She never had a book for pleasure…she does now. When she has to sight-read she sees the word that is there not what she thinks is there. The self-confidence has jumped up to a point that “she knows what she knows.” We see very little doubt in her school work and communications. Her extracurricular activities have grown and she had added three more musical entertainments to her list of activities. Time and money well spent!!

Garrett

Garrett’s greatest improvement was in learning how to “break apart” words to sound them out. His reading speed more than tripled!! Spelling improved tremendously. All of this impacted his self-esteem and gave him the confidence to continue working on his assignments here and those for school work. Garrett looked forward to his sessions with his teacher and was excited to share his successes with her. We would highly recommend this program and method for any person experiencing difficulty in reading.

I have seen a great improvement in his reading ability. He reads with a lot more confidence now and wants to read. The program has taught him to do several things in his mind at one time. He is beginning to show great improvements on his tests at school.

PACE

Kristen

We are so happy with the results of Kristen’s completion of the processing skills program. Within a week or two of starting, the confidence she had in herself and her abilities improved dramatically. She went from asking for constant help with her homework and reading to want to do it on her own. Her handwriting and spelling have improved greatly and she is reading out loud with confidence. Her teacher has commented on her improvement and especially her confidence to try and know she can succeed. She is able to concentrate better and do multiple things at one time. We are excited to see how Kristen will continue to learn with confidence.

Joshua

Joshua’s self-confidence level has soared! We have seen great improvement in his memory retention ability. His reading comprehension has drastically improved. His attitude towards school is positive now because of this program. We had our first parent/teacher conference and I am delighted to say it was a good report!! Joshua is excited about school. He is achieving his goals every week. His teacher praises his ability to stay focused and be attentive. Thank you for “Learning Foundations.”

PACE

Mark

I have seen Mark’s confidence in himself and what he can do increased significantly. He is taking college-level courses and currently has an “A” average. He says he can understand the professors better than he was able to before the processing skills program. Math was never a strong suit for him, but he has consistently scored high A’s and high B’s on all his quizzes and tests. (The professor does not allow the use of a calculator). In English, he has done exceptionally well on all of his essays. I have noticed that he can work for much longer periods of time without stopping and taking breaks. Socially, I have noticed he is more outgoing with his peers. We have been so pleased with his progress and would highly recommend the program to struggle students.

My daughter at first would not and could not sit down to do her homework without crying or having a fit. Because she could not understand the work it was too hard for her and she felt as if she was the only one who could not do the work. Her self-esteem was so low that she could not complete a task at school or home. Within a few weeks of the program me and my husband noticed a big change in my daughter. She wanted to do her homework by herself. Her tests at school have gotten better. She tries to talk to more girls and is making friends. But most importantly, she had good self-esteem about herself. She has become the daughter we have grown to enjoy and love. We knew she could achieve the goals she wanted.

Robbie

We have seen a big change in Robbie’s academic self-image and esteem. At the end of last year, Robbie stated that every family has to have a “dumb” one. Now he has verbally stated high goals of achievement. Emergency room doctor and (since Pearl Harbor the movie came out) naval pilot. Robbie feels he can achieve anything now. He also completes his homework on his own. Before he had to be pushed constantly. His academic grades have improved from low Cs and Ds to Bs and Cs. He keeps improving as the year goes on. His trainer was a great verbal cheerleader for Robbie. We know her words of encouragement aided in healing his low self-image.

PACE

Ben

His ability to decode language has improved dramatically. As he has gained stronger language skills, his interest in reading has increased. As he reads more, his vocabulary is increasing both quantitatively and qualitatively. His ability to comprehend language has increased his overall self-esteem. In addition, the signs at the center stating “College Bound” reinforce the idea that he is on the path to college. He never experienced the program as “tutoring” instead it was framed as a course kids take who want to do great in school. Ben truly enjoyed his trainer and wanted to work hard for him. Learning Foundations did a fantastic job of creating an environment where it was safe to try and be pushed toward a goal.

Nicholas

Nicholas is a changed boy. He learns skills fluently and seeks out new learning experiences instead of being frustrated. He went from being a follower to a leader in his class and his teacher made several comments on his extraordinary transformation. This program was not only a stepping stone to academic achievement but a stepping stone to a life full of achievements. Our family has been blessed by his progress!

The successes for our daughter have not only been in the academic area, but in her overall self-esteem and how she approaches all things now. She has developed an “I can conquer anything” attitude. It is totally awesome to see her want to read everything now including the newspaper. It is also very awesome to see her want to seek out other ways for her to improve herself. For example, she now wants tutoring in everything. Previously, she would not have recognized or asked for help. Now, she sees what the program has done for her and she is now asking for assistance in other areas that she feels that she could improve upon. Her need for assistance at home and school are now at a minimum. She has the confidence to tackle new projects and school work that she attempts everything on her own, and then asks you to double-check her work. She has also improved in her thought processing. She thinks things through in detail more than she has before. It’s like it has helped her to mature and to have the confidence to conquer everything.

The successes I have seen in my daughter have been significant in several areas. I have observed a more organized person. She is able to plan her schedule for college and solve her own problems in scheduling. Such as steps needed in planning for long-term projects. I have noticed an improvement in two problem areas; spelling and basic facts. She is able to spell and remember sounds of blends and complex vowel sounds. She and I have worked very hard on her basic facts since she was 6 years old. She finally has been able to successfully retain her facts!! She had successfully completed High School but the school only helped her “get around” her learning disabilities. I feel she has been taught so that she can “fix” her learning difficulties.

Frances

Frances’ approach and attitude towards doing her homework have improved. She is making improvements and could make better grades by turning in all her classwork. She seems to understand how to study better and what skills to use. Her work appears to be neater and the spelling errors are reduced. She has taken up writing a few stories on her own and with much detail. Her critical thinking skills as far as explaining things in a logical order (usually too her advantage) have increased.

Dukarai

Learning Foundations helped Dukarai improve tremendously in many academic areas. He was able to comprehend written and verbal instructions better a few weeks after his sessions started. His grades also immediately improved. These positive results helped him become a more confident student which resulted in Honor Roll recognition in every reporting period after he began Learning Foundations. I am truly grateful to the program and Dukarai’s personal trainer. This has been a wonderful asset to my son’s personal and academic development.

Matthew

A tremendous change indeed. Matthew has really grown in many ways one since beginning the program. We have noticed his confidence level along with his vocabulary rise to a new level. We are so proud of our son for really getting involved in his homework and sticking to it. A true testament to the program is his grades. Matthew has placed himself at the top of his class with his hard work and dedication. We strongly recommend the program for anyone/or child that needs improvement of areas of great concern.

Ansley

Ansley's attitude changed once we started the processing skills program. Her trainer became a strong ally for both Ansley and her Dad and me. Ansley looked forward to seeing her more with each week that passed. She challenged Ansley to do her very best and we saw much improvement in her self confidence, reading, and getting her homework done in a timely manner. Her math scores began to improve significantly. Being a 10th grader in a private school, the days are fast paced as well as the assignments. In English she was starting to enjoy reading and remarked to her trainer that she no longer had to read pages over and over to understand. The monetary investment we made in our child was well worth the successes we have seen and will continue to see.

Andres

Before the processing skills program, Andres' communication level was low and his frustration level was high. Now he can stay focused longer and complete his tasks. He is doing his homework independently and isn’t so angry when I point out a mistake. He goes back and tries again. He is displaying more independence in the classroom by being able to finish classwork and redirect himself to the appropriate project. He gages his activity on others, aware of what he is doing compared to his peers. His tracker reports his improvement in multiple-step instructions. At home, he is able to complete a job successfully without constant redirection.

Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn has grown so much over the last 6 months in the processing skills program. My husband and I have seen a great response to Kaitlyn and her abilities to become much more focused, full of concentration in getting her homework completed. She very much has grown in her self-esteem and self-confidence and we feel she will do better in her academic subjects! She also had to learn to be a better listener and doing the sound therapy has greatly enhanced her essential skills! We (our family) are very excited to see how Kaitlyn will do academically this year-especially- not having to struggle, not liking school, etc-and play, to see wonderful results in her success in school!
